Job performance management practices in Saudi government agencies: from the employees’ perceptions
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate job performance management practices in government agencies in the civil service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve the study objectives, data were collected from a random sample of 381 employees, which included civil employees who participated in training programs in the first training semester of 2019 at the Institute of Public Administration.
The study found that government agencies pay limited attention to the job performance management system, there was lack of readiness from the government agencies to define the objectives to be achieved and their standards government agencies lack of readiness to deal with the performance charter and define the objectives to be achieved and their standards, moreover, there were lack of readiness to evaluate and measure the performance of employees according to the objectives specified in the performance charter, and there were limited use of the job performance system in motivating Employees and their development. Based on these results, the study presented a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the importance of government agencies' support for the job performance management system and providing appropriate training to managers and employees on the job performance management process.
