  1. Footnotes and Reference List:

    Footnotes:

  1. Footnotes are given serial numbers, written as superscript without parentheses.
  2. Footnotes are not used for reference citation, instead citation must be done in the text between parentheses (..) using the last name of the single author or both co-authors if they are two, and the year of publication. If there are more than two authors, citation is done by the last name of the first one followed by ",et al." and the year of publication.  Examples of possible citation cases:
  • One or more authors for the same reference (Enders, 1995), (Riezman and Summers, 1998), (Berry, et al. 2002).
  • More than one reference for the same author (Smith, 1998, 2003).
  • More than one reference (Smith, 2003; Sears, 1999).
  • More than one reference for the same author and the same year, use a, b, … such as (Taylor, 2005a), (Taylor, 2005b).
  • If the name of the author was mentioned in the text, it need not be repeated in the parentheses, such as Goodwin (1998).
  1. In case of quotation, the page number must be added, for example: (Teddlie, 1998: 78)
  2. References should be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order without serial numbering. Each word in the book title, the journal name, and the research title must start with a capital letter, except for (a, an, the, in, of, to, between, against, and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet) as long as they do not come at the start of the sentence.
  3. References should be written as follows: The last name of the main author, followed by his/her first and the middle names, the names of co-authors (if applicable) in the normal way (first name first), the year of publication between parentheses, the title of the cited research, the name of the journal in italic, the volume number (the issue number in parentheses) and finally the page number(s).
  4. Page numbers of a paper should be written in full. For example, if the paper pages are from 419 to 435, they must be written as follow 419-435.
  5. In listing books, the author name is listed as in journals, and then comes the book's title in italic bold font, the year of publication between parentheses, the edition number and the city and country of publication

Examples of listing references:

  • Olsen, Mancur, (1993). Dictatorship, Democracy and Economic Performance. American Political Science Review. 87(1), 22-34.
  • Blankenau, William F. and Simpson, Nicole B., (2004). Public Education Expenditures and Journal of Development Economics, 73(2), 242-257.
