Information System Quality and its Effect on Strategic Flexibility: An Empirical Study on the Saudi Travel and Tourism Companies Operating in Jeddah

Abstract

The study aimed at analyzing the effect of information system quality on strategic flexibility in Saudi travel and tourism companies operating in Jeddah. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was developed for data collection. The sample study consisted of (230) participants, (198) participants responded which constituted (86%) of the original sample. The study revealed the following results: (1) Some of the respondents' perceptions towards the level of availability of information systems quality in Saudi travel and tourism companies operating in Jeddah for all dimensions were high and others were average, while perceptions to the level of strategic flexibility in all its dimensions were medium, (2) There is a statistically significant effect of the dimensions on information systems quality (ease of use, readiness, response time) in strategic flexibility of Saudi travel and tourism companies operating in Jeddah. The study recommends managers of researched companies to have more concern about the views of the users of information systems when updating systems designed to improve systems adaptation dimension, and urge researchers to conduct further studies on the quality of information, information system services and strategic flexibility to explore the elements of information systems effectiveness.
